Use manual exposure with auto ISO. f/4 through f/8 & 1/2500 or faster.

Center point focus with Continuous AF. Back button focus (bump focus).

Use lens focus limiter.

Continuous drive shooting at the fastest frame rate.

Back to the sun. Back to wind will allow bird flying in towards the camera.

Use red dot finder to locate subject at high zoom with narrow DoF, but switch quickly to viewfinder to lock focus before shooting.

For beginners, keep effective focal length at 450x1.6 or below to ensure subject remains within frame. Use post process crop for additional magnification.
