Shooting Modes
Aperture Priority
Select f-number, ISO setting and EV - camera selects Tv.
This method will break when the exposure time auto selected by the camera becomes longer than the max exposure time (or the shutter speed becomes lower than the min speed), to avoid blur/shake/lose sharpness in the image, typically 1/equivalent focal length. This is usually the case when shooting under low/difficult light conditions and/or shooting subjects that may abruptly move - like birds or other wildlife.
Switch to Shutter Priority as quick fix or Manual Mode to get more control.
Manual Mode
Select f-number, Tv, ISO setting - camera displays relative (+/-) EV
Relative EV compares selected settings vs camera metered sensing, and provides indication if the selected settings will over or underexpose the resulting image vs the scene.
